Alfa Laval and the Donosti Cup Renew Commitment to Equality and Sustainability
The leader in sustainability and driver of the global energy transition will, for the second year, be the Official Women’s Football Partner of the tournament.
The Donosti Cup and Alfa Laval, a Swedish company and world leader in heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling solutions, have announced the renewal of their partnership, consolidating their commitment to gender equality and sustainability. Alfa Laval will once again be the Official Women’s Football Partner of the tournament and a benchmark in driving sustainable initiatives within the competition.
The agreement, signed at Alfa Laval’s headquarters in Madrid by Iñigo Olaizola, founder and director of the Donosti Cup, and Sergio Fernández, head of marketing for Southern Europe at Alfa Laval, includes several actions to promote women’s soccer within the tournament. These include awards for top goal scorer and best goalkeeper, introduced in the last edition, the distribution of equality bracelets to captains, and a specialized section on women’s soccer on social media.
One of the milestones reinforcing this commitment is the recognition the Donosti Cup received last year from the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) as an event of exceptional public interest within the “Universo Mujer III” program. This program promotes female participation in sports as a tool for social transformation, encouraging values of equality and growth. Alfa Laval, as part of the Universo Mujer program, actively contributes to the creation of a more inclusive and equitable environment.
Additionally, in its commitment to sustainability and solidarity, Alfa Laval will support the “Donosti Cup Munduan” Scholarships, which this year will enable the participation of the Ethiopian NGO Hold My Hand’s team in the tournament. This organization works with children in vulnerable situations, having significantly reduced the number of street children and increased school attendance by 30% among its beneficiaries. Their presence at the Donosti Cup will serve as an inspiration and a testament to how sport can positively impact society.
