Apple Cup champions will play in the Donosti Cup 2026
Villareal FC, Colegio El Arca, and Global Sporting Club earn their place in the tournament in San Sebastián
The Donosti Cup congratulates Villareal FC (Ciudad de Piedras Negras, Coahuila - 2012 category), Colegio El Arca (Tijuana, Baja California - 2014 category), and Global Sporting Club (Monterrey, Nuevo León - 2016 category) for being crowned champions of the Apple Cup 2025, “The tournament that takes you to Europe.” Thanks to their victory, these teams have secured a direct spot in the Donosti Cup 2026, with a prize that includes flights from their city, tournament registration, as well as accommodation and meals during the competition.
The Apple Cup is an international youth soccer tournament held every March in Mexico, open to teams in the U10, U12, and U14 categories. Since its creation in 2017, it has established itself as a key event in the country, offering young footballers the opportunity to compete at the highest level.
Its director, Diego Mejía, has a strong connection with the Donosti Cup, having participated in multiple editions—first as a player with Academia Chelona from El Salvador, and later as a coach with Real Sociedad Cuauhtémoc. Thanks to this link with the tournament, he proposed that the Apple Cup champions earn a place in the Donosti Cup as part of their prize. Over the years, teams such as Olimpia FC (Honduras) and Independiente Chihuahua (Mexico) have enjoyed this unique experience in San Sebastián.
The seventh edition of the Apple Cup took place last weekend in Ávalos, Chihuahua, with 64 teams from different nationalities competing. After an intense weekend of soccer, Villareal FC, Colegio El Arca, and Global Sporting Club emerged victorious, securing their place in the Donosti Cup 2026.
As Diego Mejía said after the final, "A new story is about to begin," and at the Donosti Cup, we are delighted to be part of it. Congratulations to all the participants, and see you in July in San Sebastián!
