Tölö IF, first Swedish team to register for the Donosti Cup 2025
The historic club from Kungsbacka will make its tournament debut with a G16 team, joining over 50 registered female teams.
Founded in 1932 and based at Hamravallen, on the outskirts of Kungsbacka, the Swedish club Tölö IF will debut in the Donosti Cup 2025 in the U-16 female category. With nearly a thousand members, Tölö IF is well-known in the Halland region for its robust youth development program, supporting players from the age of five through to advanced levels, with over 150 coaches and volunteers.
The club is also recognized for its dedication to gender equality in football, with women making up 40% of its roster—a significant figure compared to the Swedish national average, where only 25% of players aged 12 and older are female.
This inclusive approach has been key to the club’s steady growth, and they also engage their community through events such as the Tölöcupen, a youth football tournament with 200 participating teams, and a summer camp that promotes physical activity and well-being among young people.
Tölö IF’s participation in the Donosti Cup highlights the growth of women’s football in the tournament, with over 50 female teams registered so far, half of which are international, just two months after registration opened.
The Donosti Cup is proud to welcome Tölö IF and hopes that their participation will inspire more Scandinavian teams to join this global celebration of youth football.
