Donosti Cup will have 280 referees of 12 different nationalities
40 international referees and 240 local referees will arbitrate the 2,254 matches of this 32nd edition
The tournament's international character extends to all aspects, including refereeing. 40 referees from England, Wales, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Japan will join the almost 250 local referees from the Gipuzkoa College. This way, the tournament once again shows its most professional and international side.
For the first time, a Japanese referee will supervise the matches of the tournament thanks to the latest partnership between Referee Abroad, an association that enables refereeing participation in international events, and the Japan Football Association (JFA). However, the Donosti Cup 2024 will feature referees with experience from previous editions and other prestigious international tournaments, as the foreign referees belong to the Referee Abroad Academy.
The participation of these international referees expands the global appeal of the tournament, enriching the championship with their professionalism and experience. We thank all the referees for joining the Donosti Cup to share in the passion for football.
