The Donosti Cup Foundation and Iberdrola will make the dream of the MOMIM Guaranis come true
A team formed by indigenous Bolivian players will participate in the 30th anniversary of the Donosti Cup invited by the Donosti Cup Foundation and Iberdrola
The Donosti Cup Foundation won the Iberdrola SuperA award in the social category in December last year. And thanks to this award, the dream of a women's team made up of Guarani players from the Bolivian jungle is going to come true. Some of these girls are daughters of that team made up of Bolivian mothers who took part in the Donosti Cup 2016 coached by Xabier Azkargorta, and who left an indelible mark.
On this occasion, the team will be made up of younger girls, aged between 15 and 17, although several of them are also mothers. They will take part in the G17 category and are already counting down the hours until they travel to Spain.
Karin Jamel, the group's coordinator tells us that "they are training as hard as they can". The girls train in their villages and once a week, rain permitting, they try to train together in Camiri.
They will soon make the final selection of the players and will begin the process of getting passports and visas in a hurry. If all goes well, on 1 July they will travel by bus from Camiri to Santa Cruz where they will catch a plane to Madrid. Here they will spend two days visiting the city before travelling by train to San Sebastian.
From the Donosti Cup we would like to give them a warm welcome and at the same time we would like to thank Iberdrola for their support, thanks to which the dream of the Guaranis will come true.
