Joma's solidarity empowers Western Sahara Team at Donosti Cup

Last year, the Saharawi team was unable to compete due to visa issues. However, this year, the organizers extended a special invitation for the 32nd edition of the tournament, ensuring their participation.

The team, consisting of 12 children from occupied camps in Western Sahara, faced significant challenges due to a lack of resources. Recognizing their difficulties, Joma stepped in and provided 12 pairs of boots and 12 shin pads just before the tournament began. This kind gesture not only equipped the young athletes with first-class gear but also fueled their motivation and enthusiasm, allowing them to compete at their best.

Additionally, nine Saharawi players living in various parts of Europe were called up and traveled to Donostia to represent their country in the competition. This was their first time playing together as a team, making the experience even more thrilling. Not only did they compete, but they also enjoyed the adventure of spending a week away from home. To welcome them, Joma organized a masterclass and a freestyle exhibition by Javi Freestyle, a renowned ball artist.

It has been a week full of new experiences and fun for the 13-year-old Saharawi players. For the first time, they experienced the sensation of playing in the rain, which surprised them during their match against Antiguoko. During their stay in San Sebastian, they also had the opportunity to visit the Reale Arena facilities, adding a special touch to their adventure in the Donosti Cup.

The participation of the Western Sahara team in the Donosti Cup, supported by Joma's generosity, exemplifies how sport can be a powerful tool for integration and solidarity. For these young players, the tournament has been more than just a competition; it has been an unforgettable experience that we hope they will cherish for a long time.
