Germany debuts in the Donosti Cup 2025 with Calcio Academy Oldenburg
The German club will take part in the 33rd edition of the tournament, following in the footsteps of Eiche Horn.
Germany's presence in the Donosti Cup has a rich history that began in 1994, when the iconic club Eiche Horn made its debut in the tournament’s third edition. Since then, several German clubs have left their mark on the event. Now, 31 years later, the 2025 edition will welcome Calcio Academy Oldenburg, which will make its debut in the tournament, adding another chapter to Germany’s participation.
Established as a benchmark in its region, Calcio Academy Oldenburg is known for its emphasis on ambition, respect, fun, and friendship, creating an environment that feels more like a “family” than a club. The academy's director, Giancarlo Cristescu, who was born in Oldenburg and holds Italian nationality, has been instrumental in this project. The academy’s name reflects his roots, with “Calcio” referring to Italian football and “Oldenburg” to his hometown.
Giancarlo has played and coached at several German clubs, and in his last position as team manager at FC Oberneuland, he led the team to a Bremenliga championship and a Landespokal Bremen title.
Willkommen, Calcio Academy Oldenburg!
