The Spanish Women’s National Team, just one step away from reaching the U-17 World Cup final, will face the English national team this coming Friday

28 de October de 2024

In the ongoing U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, over ten players who previously competed in the Donosti Cup are now representing Spain, underscoring the tournament's significant role in women's football.

Among these players is Celia Segura, who has scored three goals in the tournament and was named MVP and top scorer in her Donosti Cup edition, as well as Amor Leigh, who although hasn't yet played in the World Cup, became the Donosti Cup 2024 champion and was awarded the Golden Glove.

These two are joined by Laia López, Spain's starting goalkeeper; defenders Martina González, Amaya García, and Aiara Agirrezabala; midfielders Lorena Cubo, Natalia Escot, and Ainhoa Gómez; and forwards Noa Ortega and Ashley Santiago.

In the recent quarterfinal match, where Spain triumphed over Ecuador with an impressive 5-0 scoreline, ten of the sixteen Spanish players on the field had previously competed in the Donosti Cup. Now advancing to the semifinals, Spain will face England, who reached this stage after defeating Japan in a thrilling penalty shootout, with their substitute goalkeeper making two decisive saves.

All our support goes out to the players in their Friday semifinal against England
