12 years since the Donosti Cup received the Gold Drum
Twelve years ago, 20th January 2009, San Sebastian’s day, the Donosti Cup received the most important award in his 18 years of history: the Gold Drum.
There is no doubt that it was a day full of memories and emotional moments. In a moving act, the Mayor of San Sebastian, Odon Elorza, gave to Iñigo Olaizola, manager of the tournament, the highest award that the Town hall gives to a person or a company to recognise the promotion of San Sebastian beyond our borders.
Tomorrow, 20th January, we will remember this day in a very special way, although due to the health crisis we will not be able to celebrate it in the traditional way with the classic “tamborradas” (drums playing parade). We will live the celebration with the same excitement as always, although in a responsible and safe way: at home and playing the drums from the balconies. Next year, we will make the party even bigger.
