Australia is back at the Donosti Cup

Australian football school Coerver returns to the Donosti Cup after six years with three teams.

17 de March de 2025

The presence of Australian teams at the Donosti Cup has grown significantly over the years. What started with just one team per edition has evolved into a stronger and more consistent representation. The first Australian club to participate was Maccabi in 2007, and three years later, Coerver joined the tournament, taking part with several teams across five consecutive editions between 2010 and 2014. After returning in 2019, the Australian club is back for its seventh appearance in 2025.

A turning point came in 2016, when the Donosti Cup welcomed four Australian clubs: JDFA, Brisbane FA, Gungahlin United FC and EJ Football, with a total of seven teams — a record in the tournament’s history. This year, Coerver will participate with three teams: two boys’ teams (B14 and B15) and one girls’ team (G16), showcasing the continued growth of Australian football at the Donosti Cup.

Coerver Coaching is a global football training program designed for players aged 5 to 16 of all skill levels, as well as for their parents, coaches and teachers. Founded in 1984 by Alfred Galustian and Chelsea legend Charlie Cooke, it is inspired by the teachings of Wiel Coerver.

Coerver teams are known for their playing style and positive attitude, always leaving a great impression at the tournament. From the Donosti Cup, we want to send a special thank you to the Australian clubs for choosing us and traveling so far to be part of our tournament. Welcome and thank you!
